Beware Of Fraud Under The Guise Of The COVID-19 Task Force, In Padang There Are 10 Reports To The Police
PADANG - Padang City Police (Polresta), West Sumatra received 10 new reports from victims of suspected fraud cases under the guise of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force (Task Force) team.
"Since the two perpetrators were arrested on Wednesday (25/11), until now there have been 10 reports from residents that we have accepted as victims," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Padang Police, Police Commissioner Rico Fernanda in Padang quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 1
Rico said the victim came to the Padang Police Office after receiving information on the arrest of the perpetrator who had the same characteristics.
The two perpetrators were Jef (46) male and DA (42) female.
The ten victims also both lost their gold jewelry. They also explained that the perpetrator came to his house pretending to be a COVID-19 Handling Task Force team.
"The losses suffered by the victims varied, ranging from gold with a value of Rp. 10 million to Rp. 75 million," he said.
The police appealed to other residents who felt that they had been tricked by the two perpetrators to come and make a report to the Padang Police.
"The reports from the victims will be used as a consideration to increase the punishment of the perpetrators," he explained.
Meanwhile, from the results of the officers' interrogations, it was found that the perpetrators Jef and DA had acted in nine sub-districts, Padang City.
Rico said the perpetrators had acted in Lubuk Begalung sub-district, East Padang, South Padang. The perpetrators also took action in Lubuk Kilangan and Koto Tangah Districts, Nanggalo Subdistricts and North Padang Districts.
"For cases in Pekanbaru, we will coordinate with the local police," said Head of Padang Police AKBP Imran Amir.
Previously, the two perpetrators were arrested on Jalan Lubuk Buaya, Koto Tangah, on Wednesday, November 25. Both were named suspects and charged under Articles 363 and 378 of the Criminal Code.
