Andy Ruiz Wants To Retire Proudly, Against The Best Heavy Boxer In Mexico
JAKARTA - After beating Luis Ortiz unanimously at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles in early September, Andy Ruiz has mapped the route to retirement.
This Mexican-American boxer wants to perform great, with a big fight against the best heavyweight boxer to strengthen his legacy.
At the age of 33, Desireer - his nickname - has time remaining to make three or four high-level fights, if he focuses on training seriously.
Only then will he reduce the risk of making him look stupid.
The best example is in his two fights against Anthony Joshua, where with good preparation he defeated the Briton.
However, in defending the title, he relaxed and defeated without giving resistance.
Andres Ruiz, Andy's father, revealed his son's plans to prepare for retirement, and wanted to do it with a fight against Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk, in addition to completing the trilogy against Anthony Joshua.
"Andy had some good fights left behind. Fury, trilogy with Joshua, Usyk, Wilder and retired with the fight, that's what we want to do," Andres Ruiz Sr. said in an interview with 'Izquierdazo' quoted by Marca, Friday.
Destroyer himself already has plans to hold a big event in Mexico, but he has to live up to his commitment to the 'King Kong' Ortiz in California.
However, after completing the fight against Fury, Wilder and Usyk, his dream was to switch to Azteca Stadium.
"We want to have a fight in Mexico. We have one at Plaza de Toros or at the Azteca Stadium, the right one there is his retirement, I want to do it in Azteca", said the father of the 'Destroyer', who is also his deputy.
Ruiz's father insisted that his son agreed with plans to have a big fight and wished him his last goodbye in Mexico, and they even put Dillian Whyte as a potential opponent.
