JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati asked 32,826 awardee recipients of scholarships for the 193-194 class Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) to return to Indonesia to contribute to building and advancing Indonesia.
"Indonesia definitely needs you, not only to come back but you come back to be able to dedicate and give more to Indonesia," he said in a ceremony entitled Red and White Reflection, quoted Wednesday, October 5.
According to the Minister of Finance, as many as 32,826 LPDP scholarship recipients came from 34 provinces with 67 percent of them will receive domestic education, while 32 percent will be abroad.
I really hope that all of you appreciate every rupiah or every dollar or every euro you receive from LPDP. It's not just a scholarship without an inner bond or nationalism bond," he said.
It is stated that the area that Indonesia is pursuing or becoming the goal of the selected awards is very diverse, but it is claimed that it is very much needed by Indonesia to become a developed country.
"Of course we should have a system to provide awards competitively, fairly, transparently, for those who excel or prove they can contribute more to the country," he stressed.
The Minister of Finance added, to make Indonesia a developed country, the Indonesian people, especially the younger generation, must have the mentality of a winner with strong character and always strive for the best solution, and never give up, but not arrogantly.
All of you are elites who get the opportunity to learn at the highest level. You must be able to understand and be proud but not happy," he said.
The state treasurer reminded that currently in the world there are many challenges, ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, the threat of food crisis, energy, finance, to climate change.
Every generation there must be challenges, there are trials. For that you are part of a group that will later be asked by the Indonesian nation to be a solution," he said.
