PLN Gives An Explanation On Dismissal Of Electricity During Extreme Weather

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) seeks to ensure the security and safety of customers in providing electricity services, especially in the midst of the rainy season like today. Under certain conditions, PLN is forced to cut off electricity to maintain customer safety.Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL PLN, Gregorius Adi Trianto explained, in the rainy season sometimes there are various unwanted things that occur. Therefore, PLN takes action for the safety and security of customers."For PLN, customer safety is the most important thing. For example, when a flood occurs, PLN is forced to temporarily cut off electricity to minimize potential that can harm customers," he said in a written statement, Monday, October 3.Determination of electricity during the rainy season itself is usually caused by a number of factors. First, the electric substation is submerged in water. High intensity of rain can cause flooding. Not infrequently, electric substations are also submerged in water. In this condition, electricity must be temporarily cut off. This is done to prevent electric shocks that endanger customers and prevent greater potential electrical disturbances.Second, the power cable was hit by a tree. In addition to flooding, another thing that can cause the electricity to be cut off is a fallen tree.Third, high-intensity rainfall also risks landslides so that it has the potential to drench networks and cut off electricity supply.Fourth, during the rainy season accompanied by lightning can also cause disturbances in electricity distribution, lightning strikes in distribution transformers and PLN networks, often being one of the causes of electrical problems.Furthermore, Gregorius conveyed that people who see the potential for electricity disruption can convey it through the PLN Mobile application."Through PLN Mobile, we continue to improve service to customers," he concluded.
