Menpora Concerned Over The Tragedy Of The Kanjuruhan Stadium, PSSI And LIB Asked To Take An Investigation

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Zainudin Amali, expressed his deep condolences for the riots at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency in the 2022-2023 Indonesian League 1 football match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya, Saturday night, October 1.

I express my deepest condolences. I am concerned that this incident should not happen again. We have released an audience, who was previously a match without spectators. So it cannot be guarded. I am very concerned about this incident, especially the cause because I do not accept that the team lost. It can't be like that said Minister Zainudin Amali when interviewed, Sunday morning, October 2.

The Golkar Party politician said that in the match there were winners and some lost. So, said Zainudin, whatever the condition must be accepted.

Today's sports can win tomorrow can lose. So that education to the audience will be carried out even more. It is realized that any sports match, other sports, someone wins and someone loses. So whatever the conditions, we will accept it. So don't blame the team let alone the players. They've tried." he explained.

With hundreds of fatalities as a result of the riots, Zainudin asked PSSI and LIB to form an investment team to uncover the tragedy.

I will communicate with pssi and LIB what is the next step. Is it continued without spectators. It became their area. I regret that the incident let alone that there were many casualties. That is a lesson for us so that it doesn't happen again in various places. I asked PSSI and LIB to investigate why this happened. he said.

A total of 127 people died, 2 of whom were members of the National Police. The tragedy occurred at the Kanjuruhan stadium, Malang Regency, Saturday night, October 1. It was stated that supporters of one of the teams did not accept the defeat in the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya.
