Member Of The House Of Representatives Puji General Andika Who Reduces 3 Cm High Terms Of The Agency For TNI Soldiers

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Commission I Christina Aryani assessed that the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa dared to make a breakthrough by revising the TNI Commander Regulation Number 31 of 2020 regarding the age requirements and height in accepting prospective soldiers.

"In the regulation, it regulates changes in the age requirements and height of prospective cadets. These changes are not a problem, and even honestly are breakthroughs according to the reality in the field," said Christina in Jakarta, Thursday, September 29.

He assessed that the TNI commander's regulation was not suddenly revised, but received a lot of input from the soldiers regarding real conditions in the field. According to Christina, the two conditions for accepting candidates for cadets and TNI cadets regarding age and height often thwart potential soldiers who actually have good abilities.

"Usia and height are only two of a number of selection requirements. There are other criteria that determine a person to pass the assessment," he added as quoted by Antara.

Many potential soldiers have good intelligence and abilities, but often fail because their height requirements are insufficient. Therefore, he regretted that the prospective soldiers failed to participate in the selection just because of their high body factors. Whereas the TNI is required to have other capabilities, such as managerial and technological adaptation.

"In principle, as long as cadets or cadets are able to carry out their duties and responsibilities, then the difference in height is 3 centimeters for cadets and 2 centimeters for cadets, and 4 months of age, should not be a problem," he explained.

Christina also assessed that the new regulations regarding the acceptance of cadets and TNI cadets could accommodate more children of the nation who want to become TNI soldiers.

Previously, TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa said that the revision of the TNI Commander's rules Number 31 of 2020 was carried out with the aim of accommodating the general conditions of Indonesian youth.

In the 2020 TNI Commander Regulation, the requirements for height for male cadet candidates are 163 centimeters and 157 centimeters for female cadet candidates. After the TNI Commander Regulation regarding the acceptance of cadet candidates is revised, the condition for height for cadets drops to 160 centimeters and for cadets to 155 centimeters.

In addition, in the rules for accepting new cadet candidates, the age limit requirements are also revised. Previously, each prospective TNI soldier had to be at least 18 years old. Now, prospective cadets and cadets aged 17 years and 8 months are allowed to register.
