JAKARTA - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) encourages companies to commit and take serious steps to prevent sexual violence in the workplace.Director of Job Relations and Wages of the Ministry of Manpower's Dinargaswitani said the sexual violence that occurred in the workplace could have an impact on productivity. Corporates or companies can now be punished if they are involved in cases of sexual violence."The Ministry of Manpower encourages the business world and industry to seriously care about preventing and handling sexual violence in the workplace," said Dinar in a speech at the ILO event in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, September 28.He explained that the government continues to take steps to prevent sexual violence, including the issuance of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence this year.In the law, it is not only individuals who can be punished for acts of sexual violence. However, the law also regulates criminal entanglements for corporations involved in sexual violence."Therefore, there needs to be commitment and affirmation from employers with workers/laborers or with trade unions/laborers that sexual violence in the workplace is a violation of the company's norms and can harm all of them," he said.Dinar said that the Ministry of Manpower also continues to take steps to ensure protection for workers against sexual violence in the workplace.In addition to socializing the entry of clauses in joint work agreements between companies and workers, the Ministry of Manpower also encourages companies to form a task force to prevent and handle sexual violence in the workplace.
