54 FFWI 2022 Committee Selection Film Ready To Be Assessed By The Jury

JAKARTA - The Committee for the XII Indonesian Journalist Film Festival (FFWI) has sorted 54 film titles out of 123 titles as Selection Films which will be assessed by the 2022 FFWI Initial Jury. The committee selected from a total of 123 Indonesian film titles which claim from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022, both in theaters and in Over The Top (OTT).

The list of 54 film titles has been submitted by the Head of the Judging Division of Yan Widjaya to the Chairperson of the Awal Jury, Irawan Kintoko with secretary Ratih Nugraini on Saturday, September 24, 2022. The number of 54 films is divided into three genres, namely, drama 30 films, comedy 13 films, and horror 11 films.

At FFWI XII this year, it turned out that it also did not include the genre of matches. In the meeting of the 2022 FFWI Committee which was held in Bogor, West Java with the Film Appreciation and Literacy Working Group at the Directorate of Film, Music and Media of the Ministry of Education and Culture 22-24 September 2022, the genre of this year's match film was again excluded from being included in FFWI 2022, because the number of films was still lacking.

The film for the match category that was calculated by FFWI 2022 was only four from the original prediction that there were 11 titles. "Four titles after going through fierce debates have been transferred to other genres," said the chairman of Yan's judging field. Meanwhile, the other three titles, added Yan, turned out to be released after the assessment limit, so that it would be judged next year.

Thus, because the number of action films is still below five titles as a threshold, this genre cannot be included in FFWI 2022. This case is the same as the Animasi film genre which has only produced three titles, namely: Nussa, Si Juki Anak Kosan, and Si Juki Anak Kosan 2.

Meanwhile, the thriller genre or tense film, this year combined with the horror genre, or which is thicker in nuances to a drama. For example, the film Cadet 1947, a film set in this Air War, on various considerations, is included in the drama genre instead of Laga.

The chairman of the Awal Jury of FFWI, Kintoko, emphasized that the Awal Jury was ready to assess all 54 selected films according to schedule. Kintoko believes that the Awal Jury, which consists entirely of journalists throughout Indonesia, will be professional.

"That's why it's not impossible for there to be a strong debate between fellow Awal Jurys to determine the nominations of each genre," said Kintoko. The nomination of the results of the Awal Jury will be announced on October 21. While the winners of FFWI will air October 28.
