The KPK Said, Lukas Enembe Could Only Heal To Singapore, But There Are Conditions

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that Papua Governor Lukas Enembe may be allowed to seek treatment in Singapore. However, there are conditions given, namely that they must be examined first by their doctor.

"As for the suspect's desire to seek treatment in Singapore, we are considering it. But of course we must also make sure by conducting a health check on the suspect first," said Head of the Ali Fikri News Section to reporters, Sunday, September 25.

Ali said the examination would be carried out when Lukas arrives in Jakarta. He made sure the doctor would examine him, because health is everyone's right.

Moreover, the KPK has always provided opportunities for suspects and examinees to get health services. Ali emphasized that his party also provides special doctors.

Thus, Lukas does not need to worry about fulfilling the investigator's summons on Monday, September 26. "KPK already has special medical personnel in conducting examinations of both witnesses and suspects who have been summoned," he said.

As previously reported, Lukas Enembe will be called again because he did not fulfill the summons of investigators due to illness. At that time, the examination was carried out in Papua.

However, his attorney, Stefanus Roy Rening, stated that his client would not attend because he was sick on Monday, September 26. He conveyed this when he came to the KPK's Red and White Building on Friday, September 23.

"You don't allow to attend on Monday. So we ask the Governor to cooperate, so we came early to convey that because the health development of the Governor, according to the doctor, had decreased somewhat," he said at the time.

In addition, he also asked Lukas to be allowed to go to Singapore for treatment. The governor has a stroke and is claimed to be unable to speak.

Stefanus even specifically asked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to give permission. Moreover, the current condition of Lukas is called concerning.

"With the alarming condition, with the Governor's health condition, on behalf of the legal team, I ask President Jokowi to give him permission to seek treatment abroad," he said.

"Our legal team considers that if these steps are not taken by the state, the atmosphere in Papua will not be harmonious," concluded Stefanus.
