Musician And Song Creator In NTT Don't Forget To Protect Your Work Legally, List Of Copyright To The Ministry Of Law And Human Rights
KUPANG - Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Nusa Tenggara Province Marciana Dominican Jone asked song and music creators in NTT to register copyrights to protect their work legally."Registration of creation in the form of songs and music is still very minimal, even though NTT actually has many productive musicians and songwriters from among the younger generation," he said at the 'Promotion and Dissemination of Copyright in Kupang City', in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, September 21.According to Marciana, copyright registration in NTT is still dominated by scientific works and writings from universities.Therefore, he invites songwriters and music actors in NTT to register all their artwork to get copyright in order to benefit economically and legally."By registering copyright, the owner of the work can get royalties and his work is not easily plagiarized or claimed by other parties," he said.Marciana said the Ministry of Law and Human Rights through the Directorate General of Intellectual Property has even provided convenience in the form of accelerating the copyright approval process with less than 10 minutes through POPHC (Auto Approval for Registration of Copyright).This innovation, he said, was to encourage songwriters and music to immediately register their works at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. "The cost is not expensive, but the benefits are extraordinary," he said.He explained that recording song and music data at intellectual property databases is proof of ownership and rights holders, as well as one of the requirements for royalty withdrawal by the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) which will later be paid to copyright owners.Marciana said that the promotion and copyright dissemination activities this time were focused on copyright, especially songs and music, so as a form of education as well as encouraging the people who own works to register copyright."Intellectual property protection is very much needed material for various communities, one of which is among the players in the music industry," he said.Present at the event were the Association of Song Creator Artists or Music Artists of the Republic of Indonesia (PAPPRI) NTT, Musa School (Multimedia for All) Kupang City, the Indonesian Tourism Ambassador Association (Adwindo) Kupang City, as well as musicians and artists.
