Sandiaga Uno Wants Tourism Destinations To Use Electric Vehicles
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said that in the future tourist destinations in Indonesia will use the Battery Electric Vehicle or electric-based vehicles.
The statement was stated in accordance with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s appeal as stated in Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles as an Operational Service vehicle and or individual vehicle for the offices of central government agencies and local governments.
"This is an optimistic future for quality tourism, namely the direction of Mr. President Jokowi, towards the use of electric cars in the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy sector, to support green tourism," said Sandiaga, Tuesday, September 20.
Sandiaga continued, this is also to encourage the use of electric motorized vehicles in every tourist destination. And also supports, that tourism in the future must be environmentally friendly.
He added that the G20 preparations, which will be held in Bali later, have been supported by using electric vehicles.
"We are targeting Bali to use electric vehicles by 2030," he said.
Sandiaga said, there are several tourist destinations such as Pagar Alam, South Sumatra which have started to use new energy. Likewise, Nusa Penida, will soon be directed to use environmentally friendly energy vehicles.
"This is of course in accordance with the instructions and directions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia," he concluded.
