Complete File, The Wife Of The Convict, Randi Badjide, Is Ready To Be Tried

JAKARTA - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police stated that the case file for suspect IU, wife of the death row convict Randi Badjide in the case of the murder of a mother and child in Kupang, had been declared complete or P21 by the NTT High Prosecutor's Office.

The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Ariasandy, said that with the completeness of the IU case file, investigators would immediately hand over the suspect to the prosecutor's office.

"This afternoon we will hand over the suspect to the prosecutor's office, besides that his detention period has also been completed," he told reporters at the NTT Police Headquarters, Kupang, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 20.

He added that the IU suspect was charged with Article 340 subsidiary Article 338 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 80 paragraphs 3 and 4, Article 76C of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, in conjunction with Articles 55 and 56 of the Criminal Code with a threat of life imprisonment or imprisonment of 20 years.

The IU suspect is also suspected of being involved or participating in the murder case of Astri Evita Seprini Manafe (31) and his son named Lael Maccabee (1) whose body was found in the Kali Dendeng SPAM excavation project in Penkase Oeleta Village, Alak District, on October 30, 2021.

Ariasandy said the investigation of the case was quite long. During this period, the investigative team examined 63 witnesses and confiscated 55 items of evidence which were also still related to the convict in the death penalty, who was none other than the husband of the IU.

The determination of IU as a suspect has been carried out in May 2022 by the NTT Police investigator team. During this process, the suspect's case file had to go back and forth four times to the prosecutor's office because it was incomplete.

Meanwhile, the husband of IU has been sentenced to death by the Kupang District Court judges some time ago.

The defendant Randi in the trial admitted legally and convincingly to commit premeditated murder of Astri Evita Seprini Manafe and her son Lael Maccabee.

Randi is Lael's biological father and has had a love affair with Astri Evita Seprini Manafe.

The mother and child's murder took place on August 27, 2021. After being killed, the victim's body was buried by Randi in the Penkase Village forest, Alak District, Kupang City.

This case was revealed after the bodies of the mother and child were found rotting in a large black plastic bag on October 30, 2021 by SPAM pipe excavation project workers.
