Room Panel Mall Grand Indonesia Burns Due To An Electric Short Circuit

JAKARTA - One of the panel rooms at Grand Indonesia Mall, Jalan MH Thamrin, Kebon Melati Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta was filled with black smoke on Sunday afternoon, September 18.

"The object that caught fire was an electrical panel on the 10th floor, West Mall," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Asril Rizal to reporters, Sunday, September 18.

Dozens of fire engines were deployed to carry out the extinguishing process. After receiving reports of fires at 11.51 WIB, officers immediately headed to the location.

"The cooling is still ongoing. The cause is suspected to be an electrical short in the electrical panel room," he said.

When the process of handling smoke was carried out, officers encountered obstacles, namely thick smoke and lack of lighting.

According to a witness named Hakim to the officer, the man who worked as an employee of one of the kitchens saw a puff of smoke in the 10th floor corridor.

Then the kitchen employee immediately reported the incident to the security side. Then the security team immediately checked and it turned out that the smoke came from the panel room.

"They tried to open the door to the panel room to make sure, but the smoke was very thick, and the other security teams immediately contacted the fire department," he said.
