PMII Asks The KPK To Star The Potential For The 2024 Election Campaign Fund For Money Laundering

JAKARTA - The Executive Board of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PB PMII) asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to anticipate the misuse of campaign funds for the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU) during the 2024 General Election.

The National Coordinator for Monitoring the PB PMII Hasnu Election said that his party was looking at the potential emergence of the case because every election implementation in Indonesia, the political costs were very expensive.

"The very expensive political costs are triggers for election participants (politicals/politicals) to practice corruption, political ijon, financed by entrepreneurs such as the energy, mining and coal sector, road infrastructure entrepreneurs, nickel entrepreneurs, palm oil entrepreneurs, export/import entrepreneurs," he said in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 13.

PB PMII is known to have officially become a monitor for the 2024 General Election according to the results of the Bawaslu accreditation on August 4, 2022. This makes PB MMI highlight a number of potentials related to the 2024 General Election.

Hasnu explained, in monitoring work, PB PMII uses two perspectives; thorough monitoring and specific monitoring such as money politics.

When visiting the KPK building recently, PB PMII was received by the Head of the Indonesian KPK Community Participation Development Task Force, Johnson Ridwan Ginting.

Johnson continued, the concentration of the PB PMII issue is very relevant to the direction of eradicating corruption by the Indonesian KPK.

"Criminal acts in the mining, palm, energy and coal sectors after we investigated in the field actually started from the circulation of currencies during the regional elections. The KPK has so far initiated a national movement program to save natural resources," said Johnson.

According to Johnson, many entrepreneurs have played on the issue, but on the one hand it is rather difficult for the KPK to designate a person as a suspect as long as there are no allegations of state financial losses.

"Pemilu dan politik uang, pendanaan parpol dan biaya kampanye berdiri pada UU Pemilu, di sini ada ruang kosong. PB PMII harus mendorong UU ini agar ada titik dengan UU Tipikor," pungkasnya.
