Tempted By IDR 75 Million In Wages, Courier Driver For Delivery Of 209 Kg Of Cannabis From Medan To Banten Arrested By Police
JAKARTA - A total of 1.2 tons of cannabis from Sumatra that was to be distributed to Jakarta was successfully thwarted by the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit. West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Pasma Royce, said this was the result of developing the disclosure of previous cases that were successfully revealed.
“After further investigation, the team disclosed and succeeded in securing the Fuso truck which was transporting 209 kg of marijuana. In total, with the previous disclosures, 1.2 tons of marijuana were successfully thwarted", Commissioner Pasma told reporters, Friday, September 9.
Commissioner Pasma explained, that from the disclosure of 209 kg of marijuana, his party secured 1 courier with the initials SO (45) as the expedition driver.
"The perpetrator is not a member of a marijuana trafficking syndicate. The perpetrator is only an expedition driver who is tempted by a wage of IDR 75 million and is asked to send 6 sacks of marijuana at the request of the perpetrator with the initials SL, who is currently being pursued", he said.
Suspect SO (45) was in charge of taking 6 sacks of marijuana from SL (DPO). "There were 6 sacks of marijuana taken in the Medan area, in a warehouse on Nambo Rambe road, using an orange Fuso truck. The marijuana is planned to be handed over to someone in Banten for IDR 75", he said.
Commissioner Pasma said the suspect was arrested by members of the West Jakarta Police Satnarkoba while he was stopping filling E-Tolls in the Banten area. “With IT analysis and deepening, information was obtained that shipments would be made from Sumatra to Banten. Then an investigation was carried out in Banten, in Serang Banten, and the team arrested the suspect SO (45).
The police who arrived at the location immediately searched and found 209 marijuana in the box of the Fuso truck. "The Fuso truck is loaded with metered waste and junk. It contains 6 sacks of marijuana containing 200 bricks wrapped in brown duct tape", he said.
For his actions (sending marijuana), the suspect was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) Sub-Article 111 paragraph (2) UU.RI No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of life or 20 years in prison and a fine of IDR 10,000,000,000.
