73 Days Towards The 2022 World Cup: Qatar Melonak, Spectators Can Consumption Of Alcohol In The Stadium Area
JAKARTA - Qatar's 2022 World Cup audience is certain to be able to consume alcoholic beverages in the stadium area as the host country's decision softens their policies.
The Middle Eastern country previously stated that it prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages in stadium environments. Spectators are only allowed to drink in certain places such as bars and licensed hotel restaurants.
However, the organizers have confirmed that the regulation has now been relaxed. They ensure that the audience can enjoy beer in the match area with certain conditions that must be obeyed.
"We want people to come and have experiences they will never forget," said CEO Nasser Al Khater, confiscated from BBC Sport.
However, the organizers have not confirmed the area in the stadium environment that spectators can use to consume beer and others. There is a possibility that the permit will apply to the concourse area or spectator stands.
The report only said ticket holders would only be allowed to buy alcohol three hours before kick off and an hour after game. As for during the match the organizers did not allow it.
"Even though alcohol is available for those who want drinks in the designated area, alcohol is still not publicly available on the streets. What we ask is people, when they visit, stick to this designated area," said Al Khater.
"For many people, this will be their first chance to see and explore this area. This is a once-in-a-life opportunity and we are determined to do our best," he added.
The World Cup for the first time was held in a Muslim-majority country that banned alcohol consumption according to Islamic teachings. Middle Eastern countries generally have strict and illegal control over alcohol for public consumption.
In addition to strict alcohol-related rules, Qatar also issued a number of other regulations during the World Cup. Among them spectators who are not husband and wife are prohibited from booking the same hotel room.
In addition, spectators are also not allowed to wear open clothes, especially women. Then the next prohibition is that there should be no LGBT campaign during the tournament.
