Become The Youngest Player With 25 Goals In The Champions League, Erling Haaland Breaks Kylian Mbappe's Record

JAKARTA Erling Haaland successfully broke Kylian Mbappe's record in the European Champions League after helping Manchester City win 4-0 over Sevilla on Wednesday, September 7 in the morning WIB.

The Norwegian international striker scored twice in the Group G preliminary match which took place atter Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium. An additional two goals left him 25 goals in his fourth season in the competition.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker scored City's Champions League debut goal in the 20th minute and doubled his goal after halftime in the 67th minute.

Meanwhile, two goals to complete The Citizen's winning party were scored by Phil Foden (58') and Ruben Dias (90+2' each).

This achievement made Haaland the youngest player to score 25 goals in the highest caste of competition between European clubs. He made that record when he was 22 years old and 47 days old.

Interestingly, he recorded 25 goals in just 20 appearances. Three of the total goals he scored last season when injury was hampered and Dortmund were eliminated in the group stage.

Haaland marked his Champions League debut by scoring eight goals with RB Salzburg. He then added two goals for Dortmund in the same season after a move in the summer transfer window.

Then he added ten more goals in his second season in eight games. In fact, he only failed to score in five games, including two games against Manchester City 2020/2021.

According to Squawka's records, Haaland is now taking over the record from 22-year-old Mbappe and 80 days when he scored 25 goals in the Champions League in March 2021.

In addition, Haaland is also the first Manchester City player to score on his debut, both in the Premier League and the European Champions League.

Kemudian rekor berikutnya menjadi pemain keempat dalam sejarah Liga Champions Eropa yang mencetak gol dalam talapan pertamanya untuk tiga tim berbeda (Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund dan Man City).

Previously, the names who had done the same thing were Fernando Morientes, Javier Saviola and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
