KPK Call Anies Baswedan Regarding Formula E Today
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan today, Wednesday, September 7. He will be questioned regarding the investigation into alleged corruption in the implementation of the Formula E racing event.
"In the process of investigating, the KPK can certainly invite various parties to be confirmed and clarified by the KPK investigation team," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Wednesday, September 7.
The KPK asked Anies to cooperate in responding to the investigator's summons. His statement, said Ali, was needed to find allegations of racism in organizing the electric car racing event.
"We hope that the parties will cooperate so that the entire process runs effectively and efficiently, while still prioritizing the principles and applicable legal norms," he said.
"This process is one of the steps so that the KPK can get a complete and initial picture related to the alleged criminal incident," said Ali.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said he was summoned by the KPK to provide information about the alleged corruption in the implementation of Formula E. He confirmed that he would attend the summons.
"I received a summons for questioning by the KPK on Wednesday, September 7 morning. God willing, I will come," Anies said when met in Central Jakarta, Monday, September 5.
The information that will be given is the holding of the electric car racing event which was first held in Jakarta. The former Minister of Education and Culture will explain in more detail to the public after the summons is complete.
Regarding this investigation, a number of parties have also been summoned. One of them, the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edy Marsudi, who admitted that he explained about the loan of Rp180 billion from the DKI Jakarta Dispora to pay the commitment fee to Formula E Operations (FEO).
