JAKARTA With the intention of arresting a mobile phone thief, a couple of lovers in the Ciledug Raya area, Pesanggaraan, South Jakarta, have even become victims of a beating by a gang.

Eky, one of the eyewitnesses, said that the incident occurred on Jalan Ciledug Raya, Pesanggaraan, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 1, at 02.00 WIB.

The incident began when the lovers chased the perpetrator who was suspected of stealing his cellphone. The perpetrator was later caught by the couple. Suddenly the perpetrators came to the scene and beat the couple.

"The victim screamed for his cellphone back with the motorcyclist. After that, a group of people came to defend the motorcyclist, and was beaten by the mob. It is suspected that the victim's cellphone was taken by the ganger," said Eky when confirmed by VOI, Friday, September 2.

Eky suspects that there are eight perpetrators. They beat him with the influence of alcohol.

"The young man caused trouble to stop other cars from asking for a fuss," he said.

The victim was then helped by a passing motorist at the scene and managed to avoid the brutal actions of the youth group.

"(The victim survived) after being helped by the motorcyclist and taken away," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Pesanggaraan Police, Kompol Nazirwan, admitted that he was not aware of the incident.

However, it will investigate the case.

"There is no report. I will check again. We will investigate later," he concluded.
