Japan Open 2022: Jonatan Christie Qualified Hardly, Leo/Daniel Wins Easy Over Second Winning

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Jonatan Christie succeeded in following the steps of his compatriot, Leo Carnando/Daniel Martin advanced to the last 16 of the Japan Open 2022 in Tokyo. Jonathan's success was achieved after going through a long struggle of three games.

Appearing at Maruzen Intec Arena, Japan, on Wednesday, August 31 at noon WIB, Jonathan went through a long battle for 59 minutes against France's Mark Caljouw.

At the end of the match, Jojo was able to win a ticket to the advanced round after winning 21-13, 22-24 and 21-10.

In the first game of this round, Jonathan had convenience because his efforts to collect points went without a hitch. From the start he was able to collect points first until he smoothly won in the early interval with a score of 11-6.

Continuing the struggle in the second half, it was Mark's turn to try to turn things around. However, his efforts did not go smoothly because the first four points actually belonged to Jonathan.

Mark was only able to catch up at point 7-6 and continued until the initial interval ended 11-10 for the French representatives. After the second half of the game got fiercer because the sale and purchase of attacks became more intense, Mark got points until he was able to win 24-22 in the second game.

The draw made the match continue into the third game to determine the winner. At this moment, Jonathan Christie's dominance, who is also the 7th seed, began to show results.

After being able to steal the first four points, Jojo was also able to lead 11-6 in the third interval. This opportunity was well used to win by concentration and full focus, Jojo finally qualified for the advanced round after the third game ended 21-10.

Before Jonatan Christie escaped from the round of 32, Indonesia first received representatives in the round of 16 through the men's doubles, Leo/Daniel. Both qualified after winning two games over Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.

Challenged by the second-seeded Japanese representatives, Leo/Daniel only needed to fight 38 minutes to win straight games with a score of 21-14 and 21-17.
