Offers Investors To Open Sugar Cane Plantation In Banyuasin, BKPM: Requires 2,000 Hectares Of Land

JAKARTA - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has offered to investors to establish sugarcane plantations in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra.

Section Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Andry Wijayanto said, BKPM is currently coordinating with the Muba Regency Government for the preparation of a pre-feasibility study document on the investment opportunity map for strategic projects in South Sumatra in 2022.

"Our assessment is that Muba is a very potential area for sugar cane plantations," said Andry, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 26.

He hopes for support from regional leaders and the ranks of the Muba Regency Government to provide data on the implementation of this activity, and help promote it.

BKPM in the last two months has worked closely with the district government to acquire land for the sugarcane plantation investment. At least 2,000 hectares of land are needed.

"The land must be Clear and Clean (CNC), or have a land use permit if it is a production forest area," he said.

Muba Regional Secretariat Assistant for Economic Development and Development Yusuf Amilin said Muba Regency is a very potential area for investment in the plantation sector.

In addition to rubber plantations, Musi Banyuasin Regency is also a center for oil palm plantations in South Sumatra.

Regarding the sugarcane plantation investment plan, the Muba Regency Government has conducted a survey to a number of districts, including Jirak Jaya District, Sungai Keruh District and Batang Hari Leko District.

"Of course we really welcome the entry of investment because it can absorb local workers and increase economic growth," he said.
