Satisfied With The Champions League Draw, Maldini Wants Milan To Focus On Overcoming Chelsea

JAKARTA - AC Milan's technical director, Paolo Maldini, is satisfied with the Champions League draw. Because, his team joined in Group E with Chelsea, RB Salzburg, and Dinamo Zagreb.

Maldini wants the Rossoneri to be able to serve all his opponents well. But, he put more emphasis on Chelsea. Moreover, AC Milan is the only Italian team that is the top seed in this group because it holds the status of Serie A champions.

"This is a group that sees us as the top seeds, so on paper it might seem more difficult than last season. The favorites this time are Milan and Chelsea, so that (Chelsea) must be overcome," said Maldini as quoted by Football Italia, Friday.

Although admitting Chelsea as the strongest team in Group E, Maldini also emphasized that in every group there is always danger. The living legend of AC Milan also recognizes Salzburg as a strong team even though it may not have a great history.

On the other hand, Milan also faced Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League preliminary round a few years ago. The experience will make the Rossoneri learn to be more vigilant.

"It's good to have a strong team in the group because it can make qualifying a little bit simpler. On paper, we are satisfied with this group," said Maldini.

"The goal here (Champions League) is to improve and finish in the top two. That is obviously easy to say and difficult to achieve, we will see if it deserves it on the pitch," said Maldini.
