2022 BWF World Championships: Zachariah/Hediana Qualify For Big 32 Through Rubber Game, KW Putri Eliminated
JAKARTA - Indonesia's mixed doubles, Zachariah Josiahno/Hediana Julimarbela managed to qualify for the last 32 of the 2022 BWF World Championship on Tuesday, August 23 morning WIB. The ticket must be redeemed through hard struggle.
Appearing at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan, Zachariah/Hediana defeated Mikkel Mikkelsen/Rikke Soby. They ended the Danish double resistance through a fierce battle that lasted three games for one hour and nine minutes.
The Indonesian representative first secured the lead in the first game with a score of 21-17. Zachariah/Hediana tried to repeat the moment in the second game, but failed.
Their struggle was broken by Mikkel/Rikke who could turn things around, the Danish pair made things even by winning 21-16 from the representatives of Indonesia.
The draw from the first two games meant that the match had to proceed to the rubber game round.
In the third game, Zachariah/Hediana tried hard to win points from the start of the game. However, the representatives of Denmark did not want to give up just like that.
Mikkel/Rikke continued to stick to the points tightly to lead 11-9 in the third interval. The situation began to favor the Indonesian representatives after the break. Zachariah/Hediana finally won with a score of 22-20.
Zachariah/Hediana's victory was the opening for the Indonesian representatives who appeared on the second day. Because previously Putri Kusuma Wardani, who appeared first, was eliminated.
The bitter pill had to be swallowed by Putri in her first opportunity to appear at the 2022 World Championship. Because during the first meeting with the representative of Malaysia, Soniia Cheah, the Indonesian women's singles were still unable to play dominantly so they had to lose by a narrow score of 19-21, 18-21.
