Observer: KIB Needs Support From Other Political Parties To Win The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) is considered to need the support of other political parties to win the 2024 General Election and run the government. The National Mandate Party (PAN), which is a member of KIB, has also invited Democrats to join the coalition with Golkar and PPP.

Executive Director of Indonesia Political Review (IPR) Ujang Komarudin, assessed that the fat coalition KIB wanted was a natural thing. Given that KIB still needs support from other parties.

"I see it if KIB wants to expand or add coalitions from other political parties, then that's a natural thing. After all, KIB needs support or support from other parties," said Ujang in Jakarta, Friday, August 19.

According to Ujang, large coalitions have advantages in facing the 2024 presidential election. In addition to being profitable for the purpose of winning, he said, the presidential-vice presidential candidate pair (candidate-cawapres) in the grand coalition is also useful in running the government when they succeed in winning.

"Because if you later fight in the 2024 presidential election and then win, it means that a large coalition is needed. It takes security from coalition parties in the context of the government and in the parliament. So in this case the coalition will try to be as big as possible, as fat as possible. done by KIB," explained Ujang.

Therefore, Ujang saw that KIB would welcome parties wishing to join the coalition that carried the PATEN vision. While there are big gains in fat coalitions, there are challenges too.

It is said Ujang, a large coalition with many parties will certainly raise many different views. The challenge is how to unite the votes of all member parties.

"They will both fight to win the coalition, whoever the presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be. The minus is of course the coalition is fat, too many opinions, too many differences. Of course it must be united, equated," added Ujang.

Ujang also revealed that there is a risk from the grand coalition, namely the decreasing number of opposition parties in the government that could disrupt the mechanism of the balance of power (checks and balances). In fact, according to him, the mechanism is important to correct and straighten a government and encourage growth in a better direction.

"But what we have to see is the need now, in the future, is a fat coalition not only to secure 20 percent of the presidential election tickets, but also to secure the government in the future. With a fat coalition, of course the government will be safe. checks and balances," he concluded.
