Denies Deployment Of Heavy Armaments At The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Spokesperson For The Russian Ministry Of Defense Calls Security Patrols Guarded

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, stressed that Moscow did not deploy heavy weapons at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (PLTN) or the surrounding areas.

"We want to make it clear that Russian troops do not have heavy weapons deployed, neither at the power plant nor in the areas adjacent to it," he stressed.

Konashenkov further said that the nuclear power plant was only guarded by security patrols.

"The Russian armed forces are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant," he stressed.

He said the Ukrainian leadership had repeatedly accused Russian troops of occupying nuclear power plants, carrying out long-range artillery strikes, using nuclear facilities as shields.

It is known, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for military activities around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine to be stopped, as quoted by Reuters.

He urged the withdrawal of military personnel and equipment and that no more troops or equipment be deployed. He also called on Russia and Ukraine not to target the plant or the surrounding area.
