Police Carefully Investigate Cases Of Alleged Islamic Boarding School Leaders In Bandung Cabuli Santri

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police Resort is acting cautiously in investigating a case of alleged molestation against students that was reported to have occurred at an Islamic boarding school in Bandung Regency, West Java.

Bandung Police Chief Kombes Kusworo Wibowo said his party was still looking for witnesses who were said to be victims of obscenity based on reports from the complainant.

In his report to the police, the reporter stated that there were 11 students who were suspected of being victims of sexual abuse.

"While the whistleblower himself is not a victim. The reporter also does not know about the crime, (the whistleblower) has submitted several names of victims of sexual abuse," said Kusworo as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 18.

According to Kusworo, of the 11 students who were suspected of being victims of sexual abuse as stated by the reporter, there were eight who had been investigated. They are still witnesses, not victims.

"We conducted an examination, the person concerned felt that (the witness) had never received obscene treatment from the reported party," said the Head of Police.

Therefore, continued the Police Chief, his party is still investigating the truth of the report on the alleged molestation of the santri, including confirming the report back to the reporting party.

"Indeed, we haven't taken all the names yet. However, we continue to try and carry out further investigations, whether it is true that there has ever been an alleged molestation committed by the reported party," said Kusworo.

Previously, the head of an Islamic boarding school in the Katapang area, Bandung Regency, West Java, was reported to have allegedly molested dozens of students.

It is suspected that the obscene act has occurred since 2015 at the Islamic boarding school. Police have also visited a number of victims to carry out further investigations related to reports of alleged sexual abuse.
