JAKARTA - The All-Indonesian Market Traders Association (APPSI) supports the candidacy of Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto to run for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
APPSI chairman Sudaryono congratulated Prabowo who declared his readiness to be nominated as a presidential candidate in 2024.
"APPSI congratulates Pak Prabowo Subianto for his nomination as a presidential candidate for 2024," said Sudaryono, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 15.
For market traders, continued Sudaryono, Prabowo Subianto often fights for the fate of market traders and participates in maintaining and supporting the existence of traditional people's markets throughout Indonesia in the midst of the times.
"For market traders, his struggle for market traders is unquestionable. He understands and understands the complaints and aspirations of market traders," he continued.
Moreover, said Sudaryono, Prabowo had previously served as General Chairperson of APPSI. Currently, the Minister of Defense is the Chairman of the APPSI Board of Trustees.
"Prabowo Subianto was the General Chair of APPSI from 2007 to 2017. Now as the Chairperson of the APPSI coach, we therefore congratulate him on his nomination as a presidential candidate and good luck," said Sudaryono.
Prabowo Subianto previously stated his readiness to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
This was revealed after hearing the request of 34 regional leadership councils (DPD) of the Gerindra Party which unanimously asked Prabowo to run as a presidential candidate.
"I hereby declare that with a sense of responsibility, I accept your request to be willing to be nominated as a candidate for president of the Republic of Indonesia," Prabowo said at the Gerindra National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas), at the Sentul International Convention Center.
"Thus, tonight I declare that I am ready to continue fighting for the nation, state, and I dedicate my whole body and soul to Mother Earth," he said.
