Neymar And Mbappe Lead PSG To Thrash Montpellier 5-2
JAKARTA - Neymar continued his outstanding form at the start of the season by scoring twice, while Kylian Mbappe scored once as Paris Saint-Germain beat Montpellier 5-2 in the French Ligue 1 match at the Parc des Princes on Saturday evening local time.
Mbappe had executed a penalty in the first half but was countered by the opposing goalkeeper. It was his first competitive game of the season after suspension and injury.
He made amends for the penalty miss by scoring after following Neymar's corner in the second half.
Earlier, Falaye Sacko's own goal put PSG ahead in the 39th minute and Neymar scored from a penalty kick to make it 2-0 at halftime.
Neymar scored his second and his side's third of the game six minutes after the break before Wahbi Khazri pulled one back for Montpellier.
Mbappe scored the fourth goal for the reigning French champions, while Neymar thought he had scored a hat-trick when his goal was ruled out for offside.
New signing Renato Sanches came off the bench to score PSG's fifth goal, while Enzo Tchato narrowed the deficit for Montpellier at the last second.
Under new coach Christophe Galtier, the Parisian club have won three in a row at the start of the season, scoring 14 goals in total. Neymar himself has scored five goals, according to Antara.
In other matches, Celta Vigo drew 2-2 against Espanyol.
Celta went 2-0 up thanks to goals from Iago Aspas in the 45+2 minute and Gonçalo Paciência in the 63rd minute. The visitors Espanyol then equalized after getting two goals from Edu Exposito in the 72nd minute and Joselu in the 90+8 minute from the spot white.
