Dispatch Of 3 Illegal PMI Candidates From NTB Successfully Foiled In The Karimun Sea, Planned To Be Sent To Malaysia
KARIMUN - The Karimun Resort Police, Riau Islands Police (Kepri) managed to thwart the sending of illegal PMI candidates from Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to Malaysia via local waters.
"Officers managed to secure three PMI candidates who were ready to be sent to Malaysia and one perpetrator who was involved as a recruiter to pick up PMI with the initials N," said Head of Polairud Polres Karimun AKP Binsar Samosir, quoted from Antara, Thursday, August 11.
The failure was carried out after information regarding the plan to send PMI illegally from the Karimun area through unofficial channels.
According to him, last Saturday, the Polairud Directorate of the Riau Islands Police together with the Karimun Police Polairud Unit carried out routine patrols in Meral waters, Karimun Regency.
At the coordinates of 01º0'ˌ021″N-103º21'6836″E, the patrol officers saw an unnamed speedboat with a Yamaha brand 15 PK engine which was suspected of transporting illegal PMI candidates.
"After being approached, this fast boat was captained by the perpetrator with the initials N and transported three illegal PMI candidates," said Kasat.
Kasat continued to say, the PMI candidate was picked up from Batam and taken to Karimun before being dispatched to Malaysia. They are planned to be transferred in the middle of the sea using another fast boat, only after that they will be taken to Malaysia.
"Perpetrator N and three PMI candidates have been detained at the Karimun Police for further investigation," said Kasat.
The police also appealed to the public not to be tempted by the persuasion of working to Malaysia via unofficial or illegal sea routes, because it could endanger safety until they were arrested by the authorities in neighboring countries.
