Rio Ferdinand Suggests Manchester United Bring Danny Welbeck To Coat Cristiano Ronaldo

JAKARTA - Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand suggested his former team re-sign their former player Danny Welbeck.

Currently the Red Devils continue to hunt for a striker to navigate the 2022/2023 season. They already have Cristiano Ronaldo, but this Portuguese player is considered to need a coating that is commensurate with his sharpness.

According to Ferdinand Welbeck is a very appropriate figure to enter in the MU squad. Moreover, he graduated from the club's academy based at Old Trafford Stadium.

"He's a free agent in the summer because he doesn't have a contract. I'll take him. His current performance is unquestionable," Ferdinand said as quoted by Metro, Tuesday.

Welbeck impressed when helping his Brighton side to a 2-1 win over Manchester United in the first week of the Premier League at Old Trafford Stadium on Sunday.

Ferdinand said after the game that Welbeck was still in good form despite being 31 years old. He could even start against Brighton if United wanted to sign him.

"If you want a substitute striker, you can't go wrong with Danny Welbeck. He will start today for Man United," said Ferdinand.

"Welbeck walked out of that tunnel and you could see, shoulder to back, chest to shoulder. He looked like Danny Welbeck in his golden days against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu 10 years ago," added the former defender.

Welbeck started his career at Manchester United before leaving for Arsenal in 2014. He also briefly defended Watford before finally landing at Brighton.
