Helping BNPT Prevent Radicalism, LVRI Firmly Stands Up Not On The Basis Of Liberalism, Communism Or Religion

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Veterans Legion of the Republic of Indonesia (LVRI) Meyjen TNI (Ret.) Saiful Sulun signed a memorandum of understanding and built cooperation with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) to prevent the spread of radicalism and intolerance in Indonesia.

"The memorandum of understanding between BNPT-LVRI is a form of our participation in helping BNPT," said Saiful when delivering a speech at the signing of the memorandum of understanding at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, August 8.

Based on his statement, Saiful views terrorism as an act or movement that creates fear in the community. In addition, the movement can also destroy public trust in the government.

Furthermore, related to radicalism, Saiful views this as a movement in the form of violence, coercion of will, rejecting togetherness, and further wanting to replace the basis of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) with another state basis and not Pancasila.

"This is very dangerous. It can divide the unity of the nation," said Saiful.

He revealed that he was worried about the current national situation. The extraordinary freedom, according to Saiful, has given rise to various ideologies that are contrary to Pancasila.

One of the issues that has become a concern for Saiful is the understanding of religion which is used as a means of struggle.

"They have infiltrated all levels, including in the field of education, from kindergarten to university. This movement is a serious threat to the Indonesian nation," said Saiful.

Thus, according to Saiful, this problem is not enough if only the BNPT can solve it.

"All national powers must participate in overcoming terrorism and radicalism, especially by moderate Islamic communities," said Saiful.

The former Military Commander V/Brawijaya emphasized that the Indonesian nation was not founded on the basis of liberalism, communism, or religious beliefs.

"This country was founded by all Indonesian people, not by some Indonesians. This country belongs to all Indonesian people," he said.

Therefore, he invites all people to hold fast to Pancasila, because Pancasila unites the nation. "By being united we build the country," said Saiful.
