Case Of Burning Houses And Vehicles, Regent Of Jember Asks Police And TNI To Tighten Security In Mulyorejo Village

JEMBER - The Regent of Jember Hendy Siswanto asked all parties to help calm the residents after the burning of houses and vehicles that occurred in Mulyorejo Village, Silo District, Jember Regency, East Java.

"We are asking for help from community leaders and Islamic boarding schools to calm the residents there," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 5.

"I also ask the police and TNI to lower security in the area to provide protection to residents whose houses and vehicles were damaged by fire," he said.

Hendy also asked the community to revive the environmental security system (siskamling).

Several houses and vehicles of residents in two hamlets in Mulyorejo Village were burned by an unknown group of people. During July to early August 2022, there were four incidents of burning houses and vehicles in the village which made residents restless.

The regent said the local government would provide assistance to residents affected by the arson in Mulyorejo Village.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Jember M. Balya Firjaun Barlaman stated that there might be an accumulation of problems behind the attack by a group of people against houses and vehicles of residents in Mulyorejo Village.

"On Thursday (4/8), I along with Pak Dandim and the Head of the Resort Police saw the location and at the same time wanted to gather information to find out what the main cause was. The data has been collected by the police," he said.

"I ask the public to exercise restraint because Indonesia is a state of law, so all must obey the law. Anyone who violates, of course there are legal sanctions that apply in Indonesia," he said.
