Police Name Bharade E Suspect In The Shooting Of Brigadier J, PPP Legislator: There Are Indications Of Other Alleged Perpetrators In Investigation

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR from the PPP faction, Arsul Sani, appreciates the progress of handling the murder case of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J at Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's halfway house. This follows the determination of Bharada Richard Eliezer Lumiu or Bharada E as a murder suspect.

"The determination of the suspect against Bharada E must be recognized as a progress of the investigation process in the case of the police shooting the police," Arsul told reporters, Thursday, August 4.

Arsul believes that this progress will continue because the Police have conveyed that Bharada E is suspected of committing a crime of murder as regulated in Article 338 of the Criminal Code with links to Articles 55 and 56 of the Criminal Code.

"This means that the National Police have indicated publicly that there are other alleged perpetrators who are under investigation," said the PPP legislator for the Central Java electoral district.

"Strictly speaking, the Police have revealed to the public that in this case there is a strong indication of the participation of other parties," added Arsul.

Therefore, Arsul said, representing the public's hope, he asked the National Police to resolve this case in the not too distant future while still paying attention to the due process of law. As well as processes of proof based on scientific crime investigation and the principle of presumption of innocence.

"With the principles of completion like this, anyone involved must be prosecuted. But also do not give room for the development of issues or prejudices that are not based on evidence against anyone in the circle of this case," said Arsul Sani.

It was previously reported that Bharada Richard Eliezer or Bharada E was named a suspect in the murder of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat alias Brigadier J. The National Police's special team (Timsus) ensured that the handling of this case would continue with the examination of a number of witnesses.

But what was Bharada E's motive for killing Brigadier J? Police have not provided an explanation. Bharada E was charged with the suspicion of Article 338 of the Criminal Code regarding murder in conjunction with Article 55 and Article 56 of the Criminal Code.

This means that the case of Brigadier J's murder which occurred almost a month ago is not believed to have been carried out by Bharada E alone. It is suspected that there are other parties involved in this case that has drawn public attention.

"The investigation has not been completed, it is still under development," said the Director of General Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Andi Rian, Wednesday, August 3.

However, the Police emphasized that Bharada E was suspected of shooting not in a self-defense position. This statement also dismissed the police's initial suspicion of shooting each other at Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's halfway house in Duren Tiga, South Jakarta.

"Not self-defense," said Brigadier General Andi.

The determination of the suspect, Bharada E, who was said to have been detained immediately after being questioned at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, was announced after the investigation team held the case, Wednesday, August 3 night. There were 42 witnesses including experts and a series of pieces of evidence that directed the murder suspect to Bharada E, an aide to the inactive Propam Kadiv Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

"Including having confiscated evidence of communication equipment, CCTV, evidence at crime scenes that have been labforated and those that are currently undergoing laboratory examinations," he said.
