Overstay Of 3 Years, Nigerian Citizen Deported From Bali, Allegedly Tricked Women Into Sending Money With Romance Mode
BADUNG - The man, a Nigerian citizen, with the initials EEA (30) was deported by the Bali Immigration officers, due to overstay for almost 3 years.
Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) Bali, Anggiat Napitupulu said the Nigerian citizen was deported for overstaying under Article 78 paragraph 3 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
"Foreigners who hold a residence permit whose validity period has expired and are still in the territory of Indonesia for more than 60 days from the deadline for a residence permit are subject to immigration administrative measures in the form of deportation and deterrence," said Anggiat, Wednesday, August 3.
This Nigerian citizen entered Indonesia on July 23, 2019 via Soekarno-Hatta Airport with a visit visa / B211 visa with the sponsor PT AMS. This Nigerian citizen came for business purposes to buy children's clothes in Indonesia and send them to Nigeria.
But until the limit of his stay permit, this Nigerian citizen never left Indonesia.
"He admitted that he did not return to Nigeria because his business was not running smoothly so he ran out of money. After he had the money, it turned out that he had overstayed and according to his friends in Africa if he applied for a visa after overstay he would be arrested and imprisoned," he added.
Until March 5, 2022, the Immigration Office of Ngurah Rai arrested this Nigerian citizen at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. Officers received information that a Nigerian citizen flew from Jakarta to Bali with a PCR test result letter allegedly false.
From the validation, the PCR letter held by the Nigerian citizen turned out to be genuine. But this Nigerian citizen cannot show a passport.
"And there he showed his travel documents and it was stated that he had overstayed for more than two and a half years, to be exact for 927 days," said Anggiat.
It turned out that from the examination, it was known that this Nigerian citizen was suspected of committing online fraud under the guise of a love affair. The perpetrator allegedly seduced women to send him money.
"Although, he argues that this is due to negligence, immigration can still carry out immigration administrative actions that are in line with the principle of ignorance of the law not justifying anyone," he said.
"And based on the selective policy, for foreigners who obtain a residence permit in the territory of Indonesia, it must be in accordance with the intent and purpose of being in Indonesia and only foreigners who provide benefits and do not endanger security and public order are allowed to enter and be in the territory of Indonesia," continued Anggiat.
Before being deported, the Nigerian citizen was placed in an immigration detention center for 4 months and 17 days. He was then deported, Tuesday, August 2nd.
"After we report the deportation, the decision on further deterrence will be decided by the Directorate General of Immigration by looking at and considering all the cases," said Anggiat.
