Mahfud MD Calls Brigadier J's Case Not An Ordinary Criminal Case
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that the death of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J was not an ordinary criminal case.
"I said sorry, this is not the same as an ordinary criminal, so you have to be patient," Mahfud said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 3.
According to him, the case of Brigadier J's death has two psychological aspects so that handling is not as easy as an ordinary criminal case.
"Because there is a psycho hierarchy, there is also psycho politics, so if it's like that technically the investigation is actually said to be easy. What's it called, even the former retirees if it was like that, it was easy, sir, that's the place, obviously, we already know, but I say, "Okay, don't make an opinion first, let the Police process it. That's easy, the Polsek level can do it, but there are hierarchical and psycho-political psychos and various things," said Mahfud.
He appreciated the steps taken by the Police because the handling of the case had progressed. In fact, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo responded to public dissatisfaction with the case.
"People are not satisfied anymore, 'Sir, it must be deactivated. If he is still active there, later the investigation may not be objective, it can be affected'. Okay, Sambo is deactivated, basically there are three (deactivated officers). Mahfud.
The National Police Chief has also fulfilled the request for Brigadier J's body to be re-autopsied.
In fact, the re-autopsy involved other parties outside the police. Therefore, Mahfud assessed that the performance of the National Police Chief was good in the case of Brigadier J's death. "Is it not good enough? It's already good," said Mahfud.
He also emphasized that his party had records from various parties such as intelligence, National Police, retired police officers and Komnas HAM related to the case of Brigadier J.
"So I have complete records, from family there, from intelligence, from retired police, from Kompolnas, from Komnas HAM, from LPSK, from individual sources in Densus at BNPT," he said.
Mahfud after meeting with Brigadier J's father, Samuel Hutabarat, confirmed that he would not interfere in the ongoing investigation by the police.
He said his current position as an assistant to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), only oversees the implementation of state policies.
"The President's directive is sufficient, it is correct, to be opened. For investigation, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs does not go into pro-justice. But oversees its implementation from the point of view of implementing state policies," said Mahfud.
