Central Sulawesi Morowali Earthquake, Confirmed No Tsunami Potential

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred in Morowali, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi).

The earthquake on Friday (29/7) at 23.31 WIB was declared to have no tsunami potential.

Based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) quoted in Jakarta, Saturday, the earthquake was located at coordinates 2.45 south latitude 122.68 east longitude or 90 km northeast of Morowali, Central Sulawesi.

The earthquake was at a depth of 10 km under the sea.

Quoted by ANTARA, the earthquake was felt lightly in the Morowali area and felt weak in North Konawe.
