Disdik Kota Kediri Distributes Free School Uniform Fabrics
KEDIRI - The Education Office of Kediri City, East Java, distributed free uniforms for students in elementary schools (SD) and junior high schools (SMP) to welcome the new school year.
The Head of the Kediri City Education Office, Siswanto, said that the provision of free uniforms is a program of the Kediri City Government which has been running since 2013. With the help of these free uniforms, parents are helping students.
"With this free uniform, we want to provide assistance to parents of students," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 29.
Siswanto also explained that the school uniforms were indeed given free of charge in the form of national uniforms, namely the red and white uniform for elementary school students and blue and white uniform for junior high school students.
Giving uniforms can reduce parental expenses. Usually, when a child goes up to a higher school level, it will cost quite a lot.
He also hopes that students can learn better, their achievements will increase, so that students' goals can be achieved.
In Kediri City, there were 4,880 elementary school students and 5,690 junior high school students who received the free school uniforms. There are 138 primary schools and 33 junior high schools, both public and private, that will receive free uniforms.
For the red-colored elementary school uniform, the size is 1 meter and the white one is 1.5 meters long, while the blue junior high school uniform is 1.5 meters long and the white one is 2 meters long.
The procurement process has also been carried out previously through open tenders. Currently, the tender has been completed and uniforms are given to students.
The uniforms were handed over symbolically at Imam Muslim Elementary School and State Junior High School 2 Kediri City. Furthermore, uniforms will be distributed to all elementary and junior high schools in Kediri City, according to the number of recipient students.
Meanwhile, in the distribution of the free uniforms, the Kediri City Government was also accompanied by the Kediri District Attorney's Office to ensure that the distribution of school uniforms was carried out properly and smoothly.
