Police Arrest Again PRP Spokesperson Jefri Wenda In Jayapura
JAYAPURA - Spokesperson for the Papuan People's Petition (PRP) Jefri Wenda was again arrested at the Papuan Mamas market, on Jalan Percetakan Jayapura.
Previously, Jefri Wenda was arrested when the PRP held a demonstration on May 10 in the Perumnas IV Padang Bulan area, Jayapura City.
Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Victor Mackbon said the arrest was initiated by information from the public who reported that someone had entered the Mamas Papua market yard.
Even though the market closed at 22.00 WIT. From the report, members checked and found two people on the third floor.
The two people were later arrested, namely PRP spokesman Jefri Wenda and Ruben Watla. Currently the two people are being questioned by investigators at the Jayapura City Police, explained Mackbon.
The police chief admitted that there was information circulating regarding the arrest of Jefri Wenda, who was declared kidnapped even though he was arrested due to public reports.
Moreover, the PRP, which is allied to the KNPB, has attempted to conduct a long march five times, even though the Jayapura City Police are ready to facilitate the demonstration to the Papuan DPR.
The group persisted in carrying out a long march and there were indications of carrying out anarchic actions so that the security forces tried to thwart it.
In carrying out its actions the PRP demanded a referendum and rejected the formation of new autonomous regions (DOB).
"The investigation is still being carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jayapura City Police," Kombes Mackbon said.
