Residents Call Waterway Normalization Project The Main Cause Of Collapsed Buildings In Johar Baru
JAKARTA - The drainage normalization project carried out by the related sub-department in RT 10/06, Jalan Kampung Rawa Sawah II, Kampung Rawa Village, Johar Baru District, Central Jakarta, is strongly suspected to be the cause of the collapse of the 2-story building in Johar Baru, Thursday 28 July.
Even as a result of the incident, a woman from Johar Baru died at the scene and another woman suffered a broken leg.
Based on information from Yanto, an eye witness to the incident, the front of the collapsed building was previously under construction for a water channel project.
"The excavation officer deliberately bent the claws and took a large river stone (the house's foundation)," said Yanto, Thursday night, July 28.
Then not long after, he continued, visible ruins of wall material followed by sacks on top of the house.
"A few minutes later, the excavation workers jumped from the dug hole (saving themselves) because they heard the sound of the wall cracking," explained Yanto.
Yanto said that the building collapsed at around 15.15 WIB.
"Not long after, the building collapsed and there was a rumbling sound," he said.
Previously, it was reported that the collapse or collapse of the construction of a 2-story building used as a shop and command post was allegedly caused by the building not being able to withstand the load.
"It is suspected that the building is not strong enough to withstand the load," said Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Officer, Unggul Wibowo, to VOI at the location, Thursday, July 28, evening.
Meanwhile, according to the statement from the Head of RW 06, Syafrudin, the collapse of the building construction is thought to have been caused by the impact of the water channel excavation project which is right in front of the building.
"Incidentally, there is a project to excavate a sewer justification from the Provincial Government of the Housing Service. Make a widening of the repair of the channel to replace a new one," explained Syafrudin.
He suspected that the collapse of the building was due to the excavation of the channel construction project.
