In Surabaya, There Are More Teachers Who Have Not Been Certified Than Those Who Already Have
JAKARTA - Commission D for Education Sector DPRD Surabaya City, East Java received information, it turns out that there are still many teachers in this "City of Heroes" who have not followed the certification process.
"This must be an evaluation and enthusiasm for the education office and teachers to take part in certification by fulfilling certain components or conditions that have been determined," said Chairman of Commission D of the Surabaya DPRD, Khusnul Khotimah in Surabaya, Thursday, July 28, quoted from Antara.
The Surabaya City Education Office previously said that 10,859 teachers in Surabaya had not been certified. This number is a combination of public and private teachers spread across the Kindergarten, Elementary and Junior High School levels. Meanwhile, 10,692 teachers have been certified.
"It must be fulfilled, how the teacher must have an educator certificate and have a performance assessment result in a good category," he said.
Not only that, he also emphasized that the teacher must be active in teaching, fulfill the workload according to the legislation, including teaching 24 hours to get certification.
"It can be proposed for certification, who proposes it is the school principal's education unit and then the Education Office," said Khusnul.
For teachers who do not meet the certification requirements, he encourages the education office to improve quality, assist and provide assistance in the form of strengthening programs so that teachers can get their certification.
"Even in teaching, it must also be adjusted to the rules, namely 24 hours," said Khusnul Khotimah.
Deputy Mayor of Surabaya Armuji previously also encouraged more teachers in the City of Heroes who took part in the certification.
According to him, certification of teachers is important because it is an indicator of competence and professionalism in guiding students.
In addition, he said, teachers are also expected to be able to build and develop relationships between teachers, schools, the wider community and become learners as well as drivers of change in schools.
Armuji also guarantees that the Surabaya Education Office provides optimal services to teachers and education personnel to support the certification process in accordance with current regulations.
