Landslide In Liliboy Ambon Causes No Casualties, Residents On Riverbanks Asked To Be Alert

AMBON - A landslide hit the Liliboy Country area, West Leihitu District, Ambon Island, Central Maluku Regency on Tuesday, July 26 at around 11:30 WIT.

"The landslide in Saumaku Hamlet, Liliboy Country closed access to the main road leading to a number of villages in West Leihitu and Leihitu as well as to Ambon City," said Head of Public Relations of the Ambon Island Police and PP Lease, Ipda Moyo Utomo in Ambon, quoted from Antara, Tuesday. 26 July.

He added that this natural disaster did not cause material loss or loss of life or injury.

According to him, the Liloboy State Bhabinkamtibmas together with local residents are trying their best to clean up the landslide material that has closed the main road segment.

The landslide that occurred in Liloboy Country was caused by rain with moderate to heavy intensity on Ambon Island since Monday, July 25, and is still persisting until now.

The police also provide education to residents whose homes are on slopes and riverbanks to be aware of the threat of floods and landslides.

Drivers are also advised to be careful when crossing roads in high cliff areas because landslides or fallen trees can occur at any time.

"Because the West Leihitu area currently has two natural disaster points, namely the overflow of the Sikula Flood in the Hatu Country and the flood in the Liloboy Country," he said.
