Baim Wong Clarifies Intellectual Property Rights Registration Citayam Fashion Week, Warganet: Made By The Poor, Stole By The Rich
JAKARTA - Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven's PT Tiger Wong Entertainment is known to have registered the Citayam Fashion Week brand with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Judging from the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI), Sunday, July 24, registration for Citayam Fashion Week (CFW) was carried out on July 20, 2022 with application number JID2022052181.
“Entertainment in the nature of fashion shows, entertainment services, namely providing podcasts in the fashion sector, news reporting services in the fashion sector, providing non-downloadable online videos in the fashion sector, organization of fashion shows for entertainment purposes, holding exhibitions, fashion shows and cultural exhibitions for entertainment purposes, arranging fashion shows for show purposes, planning [entertainment] parties for promotional events in connection with fashion shows, production of television programs in the field of fashion for entertainment purposes, publication of fashion magazines for entertainment purposes”
Because they were caught registering intellectual property rights, netizens also thought that Baim Wong had 'stealed' ideas from young people from the outskirts of Jakarta. However, not wanting to have a long polemic, Baim also provided clarification via Instagram on Monday, July 25.
"This Citayam Fashion Week doesn't belong to me.... It belongs to all of them, it belongs to Indonesia. I'm just a person who has a vision of making Citayam Fashion Week a place to make this trend a legal and non-seasonal place. And most importantly, can advance Indonesian fashion in the eyes of the world," Baim wrote.
Having a wife who is an international model, Baim has a vision to seriously develop this street fashion show. "Why am I moved? It all started because of my wife. Because she understands the world of fashion and she sees Citayam Fashin Week as a movement where people care about fashion," he said.
According to Paula, as written by Baim, this movement changed the stigma that fashion was expensive. "And it turns out that in Indonesia, utu fashion doesn't have to be expensive and they are proud to wear it. Pride is an important achievement and must be cultivated," he explained.
For this reason, Baim and Paula took the initiative to register HAKI Citayam Fashion Week. "People with big dreams who have to help them. Not because of interest can how much? But how far does the vision go? And to what extent do we believe in that goal? And that goal is for whose welfare? a lot? It's too risky when we have big goals or goals. Because making something big must cost money," he explained.
Baim confirmed that he had coordinated with Citayam Fashion Week initiators including Bong, Roy, Kurmam and Jeje. He assured that if there was a result of his vision, it would be returned to the children.
"The results from here, I don't know whether there is or not. But even if there is, it will be yours too. And not only that, remember there is Citayan's name in front of it. It also belongs to them, this really belongs to Indonesia," he said.
In the future, Baim Wong hopes to be trusted to continue to accompany Bong, Roy, Jeje, and Kurma to build Citayam. "You guys build Citayam into a great area with this money. I'm only part of you to be able to achieve my dreams. I just need your trust..." he hoped.
Like feeling the anxiety of road users, Baim Wong is also trying to find a safe place. He said he had all the evidence when to contact BOnge and register the IPR. In fact, he contacted the Minister (without mentioning names) and the President Director of Sarinah to find a more suitable place.
"I asked the President Director of Sarinah to look after the nets if one day they were not allowed to be in the upper hamlet because the current situation was too crowded. I did all that not for personal gain," said Baim Wong.
In addition to companies owned by Baim Wong and Paula, Citayam Fashion Week is registered by Indigo Aditya Nugroho. The application was received on July 21, 2022 with the application number JID2022052496.
Netizens' attention was divided. Some believe in Baim, some doubt the sincerity of Baim Wong's intentions.
"Made by the poor, stole by the rich," wrote one netizen who accused Baim of stealing ideas.
"If you want to support, teach them how to register IPR, not register it in their own name." wrote another netizen.
"CFW belongs to you, but all forms of royalties and endorsements are ours," wrote another netizen.
"Usually, if it's clear to shut up Imce, I don't know why today if someone is asked, instead of direct DM or direct wa, there's more noise in the public space, but again, comments are everyone's right…hopefully everyone is wiser when commenting, have questions, and all who have good intentions are launched to help. Let's control our judgment, and start to help each other more," wrote Ayu Dewi providing support in the comments column.
Meanwhile, Baim Wong also gave a similar statement when contacted by the media crew. He admitted that he could not provide direct clarification because there was work. Baim is also ready to hold an official event in August.
