PT Perindo Absorbs 5.570 Tons Of Fish In The First Half Of 2022
JAKARTA - PT Perikanan Indonesia (Persero) or Perindo absorbed 5.570 tons of fish caught by fishermen in the first half of 2022 or the January-June 2022 period.
Perindo's President Director Sigit Muhartono said this absorption strengthened Perindo's role in involving fishermen as the frontline of food security.
This is in accordance with the mandate of Government Regulation No. 99 of 2021, namely for Perindo to act as a buyer of fisherman catches to increase and support the availability, affordability, inclusion and quality of fisheries.
"The role of PT Perikanan Indonesia as an off taker (buyer) has been further enhanced after the issuance of Presidential Decree (PP) No. 99 of 2021 concerning the Merger of the Company (Persero) PT Perikanan Nusantara into the Company (Persero) PT Perikanan Indonesia," said Sigit as quoted by Antara, Friday, July 22.
Sigit said Perindo is here to absorb the catch of fishermen throughout Indonesia at a fair and appropriate price.
"This is the government's mandate after the merger of Fisheries SOEs. PT Perikanan Indonesia must be able to increase the yields of fishermen off takers, the exchange rate of fishermen and make it easier for fishermen to produce. This is what we continue to strive for," he said.
The fish caught by fishermen that Perindo absorbs include skipjack, tuna, mackerel, tuna, deho, kite, and octopus.
The fish were obtained from fishermen in a number of Perindo branches, namely Pekalongan, Belawan, Brondong, Pemangkat, Ambon, Bacan, Benoa, Bitung, Gorontalo, Makassar, Padang, Sorong, Surabaya, and Tegal.
"The total fishing partners of PT Perikanan Indonesia throughout Indonesia are 1.400 fishermen," said Sigit.
He said the fish products absorbed from fishermen are raw materials that will be processed before being sold.
In the processing process, Perindo will focus on product downstreaming to maximize added value.
