DPRD Holds A Meeting On Proposals For The Termination Of The Sorong Mayor's End Of Term

PAPUA - The Sorong DPRD, West Papua Province, held a plenary meeting on the proposal to terminate the term of office of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Sorong for the 2017-2022 period. The meeting was held at the Sorong DPRD Office, Friday, July 22.

The chairman of the Sorong DPRD, Patronela Kambuaya said that the plenary meeting with the agenda was held no later than one month before the end of the terms of the Mayor of Sorong, Lambert Jitmau, and Deputy Mayor of Sorong, Pahima Iskandar.

According to him, this provision is in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 23/2014 on Regional Government. At the same time, following up on the West Papua Governor's Letter 120/1333/JPT/2022 regarding the dismissal of regional heads and deputy regional heads whose terms of office expire in 2022.

Regarding the end of the tenure of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Sorong, Patronela appreciates his achievements in development and his efforts in maintaining security stability in Sorong City.

"We, the leadership and all members of the DPRD, express our gratitude to the mayor and deputy mayor for their service to the state and people of Sorong," he said, according to Antara.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Sorong for the 2017-2022 period, Lambert Jitmau, who took part in this meeting, expressed his gratitude to all parties, especially the people who have provided support during his reign.

He said there are still many shortcomings and things that have not been done for the welfare of the people in Sorong City.

"The magnificent airport, the magnificent football stadium, the largest modern market in West Papua, hospitals to health centers with inpatient facilities and other infrastructure, let them become memories for the people in Sorong," said Jitmau.

The plenary meeting of the Sorong DPRD was chaired by the Chair of the Sorong DPRD, Patronela Kambuaya, accompanied by Deputy Chair I of the Sorong DPRD, Melkianus Way, and Deputy Chair II of the Sorong DPRD, Elisabeth Nauw.

In addition to Lambert Jitmau, the Deputy Mayor of Sorong, Pahima Iskandar, and all members of the DPRD were also present at the meeting.
