16 Times Stealing Cellphones And Laptops At Sanglah Hospital Denpasar, Residents Who Are Also Hotel Employees Arrested By The Police

DENPASAR - I Gede Eka Jaya Putra (32) was arrested by the Denpasar Police for dozens of thefts of cellphones and laptops at Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, Bali.

The perpetrator, who is known to work as a hotel employee, stole valuables belonging to the patient's family or patient visitors at Sanglah Hospital.

"The perpetrators targeted victims who were waiting for patients and pretended to be officers," said Denpasar Police Chief Kombes Bambang Yugo Pamungkas at the Denpasar Police Headquarters, Bali, Friday, July 22.

The perpetrator was arrested after the victim reported the loss of two cellphones on Monday, June 20. At that time, the victim went to Sanglah Hospital with her child who would be hospitalized.

In the early hours of the morning, the victim recharged the batteries of his two cellphones in the inpatient room. When he woke up, the victim realized that his cellphone had disappeared.

From the investigation, the police arrested the perpetrator on Jalan Glogor Carik, South Denpasar.

"This perpetrator was a recidivist in 2017 and was sentenced in Kerobokan Prison for 1 year and 2 months in the case of theft of money at Villa Svarna in Kuta," said Kombes Bambang.

From police interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that he had stolen 16 times in 4 months at Sanglah Hospital. The perpetrators' targets were cellphones and laptops.

"And a total of 16 times for 4 months. The modus operandi was to enter Sanglah Hospital and take the victim's belongings, especially the victims who were sleeping waiting for the patient, they fell asleep charging their cellphones and then they were taken," said Kombes Bambang.

The perpetrators were desperate to steal at Sanglah Hospital because they already knew the situation at the hospital. The money from the crime is used by the perpetrators for daily living expenses

"The results are for shopping and living necessities. He is still a hotel employee. The perpetrator is subject to Article 362 of the Criminal Code with a criminal sentence

imprisonment for a maximum of 5 years," said Kombes Bambang.
