22 Underage Students Become Suspects Of Student Abuse To Death In Tamansari
JAKARTA - The Tamansari Sector Police arrested the students who were involved in the beating on Simplicity Street, RT 07/05, Keagungan Village, Tamansari, West Jakarta.
They were arrested after ganging up on a student with the initials AIS (16) to death in the Gajah Mada area, Tamansari District, West Jakarta, last Tuesday, July 19. The victim died after getting a knife wound to the right chest.
Head of Public Relations of the West Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Moch Taufik Iksan, said the perpetrators were arrested by joint officers from the Tamansari Metro Police together with the Crime Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police and the Jatanras Team of the West Jakarta Metro Police.
"There are 22 students from several schools involved in the case," said Commissioner Moch Taufik Iksan when confirmed, Thursday, July 21.
The Head of the Tamansari Metro Police, AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha, explained that they were proven to have abused and caused the death of AIS.
"As for the executor, based on the information, there are 3 people. We have secured all of them at the police station and all of them are underage," said AKBP Rohman.
In addition to the three executioners, the police also arrested dozens of students involved. A total of 22 people were involved in the clashes.
"As for the suspects we have secured, the total number is 22. They are a combination of groups, namely Tambora Islamic High School, Sentosa Vocational School, and JP 1 Vocational School," he explained.
From these dozens of students, the police confiscated dozens of cellphones that were allegedly used for an agreement before the clash occurred, 5 sharp weapons in the form of sickles, and 7 motorcycles.
In order to account for their actions, dozens of these students were subject to different articles.
The 3 executors were charged with Article 170 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution to cause the death of a person with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
"Meanwhile, 19 other people are subject to Article 358 paragraph 2 regarding participating in attacks or fights that cause the loss of a person's life, with a maximum penalty of 4 years," he said.
Meanwhile, students who only carry sharp weapons are subject to Article 2 paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.
