Throughout 2022, South Sumatra OKU Health Office Recorded 33 Dengue Fever Cases, A Drastic Increase From Last Year
OKU - The Health Office of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, recorded 33 cases of dengue fever (DHF) throughout 2022.
"As of July 2022, there are 33 cases of dengue fever in OKU," said Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Ogan Komering Ulu Health Service (OKU), Andi Prapto in Baturaja, Antara, Tuesday, July 19.
According to him, this number has increased dramatically compared to the previous year which only amounted to five cases until the end of 2021.
Dozens of patients with dengue fever ranging from children to people aged 44 years were forced to be treated at a local hospital due to the disease.
"Thank God no one died. All patients recovered after undergoing intensive treatment at the hospital," he explained.
However, his party still urges the public to be aware of the spread of dengue which is prone to spread during the rainy season by applying the 3M pattern, namely draining and closing water reservoirs and burying used goods.
According to him, this method is considered very effective in preventing the spread of dengue fever so that it does not spread to the community, especially children.
In addition to using mosquito repellent, the public is also asked to install screens on windows and ventilation so that mosquitoes do not enter the house.
