PATI - The repair of the Sungai A embankment in Bulumanis Kidul Village, Margoyoso District, Pati Regency, Central Java, which broke down for 20 meters causing flash floods, has reached 60 percent with a target of completion on Wednesday (20/7).
"The repair of the broken river embankment consists of several layers so it doesn't break easily, starting from the first layer using bamboo, then sand bags and jumbo boxes," said Head of the Daily Executive of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Pati Regency, Martinus Budi. He estimates that the temporary handling in the form of repairing the broken embankment can be completed on Wednesday (19/7) because currently it has reached 60 percent, while the work is also handled directly by the Pemali Juwana River Basin Center (BBWS).
The strengthening of the embankment to several layers is to anticipate when the river water discharge will increase again so that it is not easily broken, especially when the rainfall is high.
After the embankment repairs are completed, the next step is cleaning the river channel from debris so that the water flows more smoothly.
The next step is to handle the houses of residents affected by flash floods, while residents who are in refugee camps have also fulfilled their food and drink needs.
"From various parties helped flood victims, including today (19/7) there is also a community of artists who handed over aid to flood victims," he said.
Residents who are in refugee camps are asked to be patient because the government is still paying attention to their fate, but the handling must still be gradual with the priority scale of levee repairs first.
Flash floods on July 14, 2022 resulted in the collapse of the Sungai A embankment in Bulumanis Kidul (Margoyoso) Village, 17 houses were also damaged, six of which were seriously damaged and 11 lightly damaged, while in Tunjungrejo Village there were eight heavily damaged houses, two damaged houses. moderate and four houses were slightly damaged.
Residents whose houses were damaged also fled to the local village hall, because their houses could not be occupied.
