Indonesia And Timor Leste Agree To Strengthen Borders, Jokowi Hopes State Post In NTT To Complete 2022

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Indonesia and Timor Leste have agreed to strengthen the borders of the two countries and encourage the Joint Border Committee to be re-established.

The agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Timor-Leste during the visit of the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste Jose Ramos-Horta to the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday 19 July, quoted from Antara.

"We agreed to strengthen border development. I also encourage the Joint Border Committee to be re-established," said President Jokowi when delivering a press statement with Jose Ramos-Horta.

President Jokowi expressed hope that the construction of the Napan Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) could be completed this year.

In addition to the issue of national borders, Indonesia and Timor-Leste agreed to improve connectivity, both by land and sea.
