INDEF Says Government Needs To Open Jobs For Residents Around IKN: For Example, There Are Restaurants Or Restaurants, Let Local People Work

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) Tauhid Ahmad said the government needed to provide educational facilities, create job opportunities and involve local people in the government around the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).

"So there must be an increased capacity, repairing schools, repairing houses, providing employment opportunities, not losing the rights of indigenous peoples to the authorities," said Tauhid, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, July 19.

Tauhid said the educational facilities in question include providing access to higher education levels for students in the region. According to him, through education, the ability of Human Resources (HR) in the region will increase.

"The way to improve human resources, be trained and so on, it takes time," said Tauhid.

Meanwhile, what is meant by employment is permanent work, not just work related to infrastructure projects. He said the public must also be involved in the government regardless of the functional position.

"Give me job opportunities, give political rights," said Tauhid.

Tauhid gave an example of employment opportunities that could be provided to local communities there, for example, being given the authority to manage restaurants that would be established in the area.

"For example, surely restaurants, restaurants and so on will be built. Love the local community, who has the authority to regulate them," said Tauhid.

Then, Tauhid explained that the rights of local communities must be maintained within the authorities. According to him, they must have rights within the authorities regarding matters of an important nature.

"If the rights are lost in the authority body, it's the same," said Tauhid.

Previously, the government planned to implement community engagement or involve local communities in IKN development. Not only development, the government also hopes that local communities are involved in sustainable development in IKN.
